I just got the news that David Foster Wallace hanged himself. I’ve read everything Wallace has ever published (including all 1100 pages of Infinite Jest, twice) and he is one of my intellectual heroes. He was a rare talent: brilliant and empathetic, two things that are rare to find in one soul. The world is so, so much poorer without him.
