Robert Drinan, RIP
Having grown up the son of an-almost Jesuit (my father left the seminary a few years before final vows), I’ve always had a real soft-spot for the Society of Jesus. It seems to embody everything I admire about the Catholic tradition of social justice, and Robert Drinan was as good an embodiment of that as anyone. I actually had the good fortune of meeting Father Drinan. During high school, during some trip to DC with one of those “young leadership” outfits, we were treated to talk from Drinan on the floor of the house of representatives. One thing is for sure, if Drinan were in Congress today. he’d be leading the charge to end the war.
