Obligatory Cubs Post

What can you say? I’ve avoided blogging about the Cubs because, well, I was too heartbroken and angry to have much productive to contribute. But here are three things that made me feel better.

First, this funny Onion squib: God Savoring Vast Array Of Cubs-Cursing Options

Second, this note from my friend who was in LA:

Dear Cub Faithful:

I was at Dodger Stadium tonight bracing defeat and stood tall amid a sometime oppressive Dodger majority. Yesterday, i made the decision to attend the game. I first told myself, no I didn’t want to go, I didn’t want to endure the pain, to trudge home, to sink my head in my hands. Then as I thought more about it, I said, if they lose, which they did, I would take that with me, burn it into my memory, put a little more bittersweet seltzer in the drink and someday, if and when, as the memories pile up, and Ron Santo’s moans grow deeper, it will taste so much sweeter, the tears will fall that much harder, as we remember how far we’ve come.

My friends, keep the faith… we’re just a fine wine.

And on this note, this fantastic Eddie Vedder song, sent to me by a friend. I’m not ashamed to say it made me tear up.
